We had another informational meeting today during lunch, and it was quite short and sweet. We just needed to wrap a few things up before the preseason, such as getting everyone signed up for what they wished to work on during the preseason and beyond, such as building, programming, non-engineering, and world domination. We also debuted the video bulletin my right-hand man, David Kao, made, and it seemed to be a hit. In the end, the programming captain talked to the people interested in programming. If you happen to be interested in programming and missed this meeting, don't sweat (unless your normal body temperature is too high, sweating is good), simply ask Cole, our programming head the next time we meet. We also wanted the team to be aware of the fundraiser we are going to attend to help out other team members! It is an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner. We hope that the entire team will go! Let's eat some spaghetti, Team Pronto!
Made by my partner in crime David Kao, here is the video promoting the upcoming preseason kickoff for Team Pronto on Nov. 5th! See it here in an advance viewing before anyone else in the school gets to on the video bulletins! (It's a great deal, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.) Join me on the hype train, Team Pronto!
Choo choo!!! It's a day off at school for members of the Robotics Team, and well, everyone else at school too. But y'know what, Team Pronto went to school anyway. In an effort to spread the good word about the wonders of engineering and FIRST Robotics, five of Team Pronto's members went to B.F. Day Elementary School to teach a lesson on engineering and show off Chuck (our robot from last year, if you didn't know). Our lesson included classic engineering activities such as making a paper tower with one piece of paper and half a foot of tape, and giving instructions on how to make a jam sandwich. The kids in the class did wonderfully, working together to make towers that were extremely impressive. They did way better than I would of for sure... In the sandwich activity, we got to watch one of Pronto's members try and spread jam with their fingers (to the utter dismay of the jam's owner) as they tried to follow each set of directions precisely. In the end, we got to show them a robot demonstration with Chuck. Their "ooh's" and "aah's" made it worth every minute of sleep lost on this day off.
Great job, Team Pronto! Thank you everyone who showed up to help! Inventory was extremely productive in making a list of our materials, and the captains managed to discuss the preseason, fundraising, and other important things. I was even able to put together this website! (A miracle, let me tell you, considering my long track of procrastination this year.) We're still putting together some things for the preseason meetings, but I can already tell it's going to be a blast!
Get pumped, Team Pronto! |
